Hiring Timeline

  • Apply
  • Complete online assessment
  • Participate in an Information Session
  • Interview and receive a passing score
    • We typically offer virtual and in-person interviews.
  • Pass a Criminal Background Check & Driver Abstract Review. Our background policy can be found at the bottom of this page.
  • Pass a Functional Assessment 
    • This step is scheduled by Pierce Transit
  • Pass a Physical Assessment & Drug Screen
    • This step is scheduled by Pierce Transit. If you currently hold a valid DOT medical card, you may be able to skip the physical assessment portion.
  • Send front and back photo of your driver's license to jobs@piercetransit.org
  • Obtain a Class B Commercial Learner's Permit (CLP) with Passenger & Airbrake Endorsements 
    • This is something you will be responsible for completing through the Department of Licensing (DOL).  An appointment may need to be scheduled through dol.wa.gov. Please make sure to save all receipts associated with you CLP testing. Pierce Transit will reimburse up to $75 of testing fees.

E-Verify:

For employment eligibility.

Once you start your job with us, we will ask you to fill out a Form I-9. We use the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s E-Verify program to check your information. It is an online system to prove your identity and whether you can work in the United States.
